A mural unveiling on this Friday!!

Hi everyone!!

I would love to extend an extra special invitation to you to join us at the *unveiling* of the Canto al Pueblo mosaic. A flier is attached! There will be a short program at 6 pm, featuring the artists and partners and a mosaic unveiling. We will have light refreshments. Please dress for the weather, as the event is *outside!*

The Canto al Pueblo mural was originally installed in 1979 by West Side artist Pablo Basques to commemorate the Canto al Pueblo movement: a national movement that sought to raise the profile of Hispanic and Chicano artists. Despite two restorations, the mural fell into a significant state of disrepair. To ensure its sustainability long term, the Riverview Economic Development Association and the original artist Pablo Basques determined that a mosaic version of the original work would be the best method of restoring it. Thus, Pablo Basques in collaboration with mural artists Greta McLain and Josh Sarantitis reinterpreted the original painted design into a large scale cut-glass mosaic.

Many community members have been a part of this exciting project: the Riverview Economic Development Association and its Streetscape Beautification Committee have set program goals and objectives, Youth Farm and Market Project and the West Side Citizens Organization engaged over 50 West Side youth in creating the mosaic, and the Metropolitan Regional Arts Council, City of St. Paul Cultural STAR program, Compas, and Neighborhood Partnership Initiative provided funding to support its execution. The project is part of the “Save West Side Art!” program coordinated by the Riverview Economic Development Association, which has impacted three additional pieces of neighborhood public art this year.

The Minnesota State Arts Board and Minnesota's regional arts councils, in
partnership with Springboard for the Arts and Creative Capital, are
underwriting a pilot artist development project to offer professional
development workshops and education opportunities statewide for individual
artists of all disciplines and all stages in their careers. Thanks to
support from the arts and cultural heritage fund, the workshops will be free
of their regular cost to participants, but space is limited.  Apply today!

All ten sessions of Springboard's Work of Art: Business Skills for Artists
workshops are being presented in all eleven arts council regions in
Minnesota, plus Creative Capital will present one-day intensives on
strategic planning, public relations, funding your work, and the Internet.

The Print Paper Book Area in the Department of Fine Arts is pleased to announce a CALL FOR

SUBMISSIONS of print-based works (prints, books, objects, installations, new media that fits criteria) to

be considered for the exhibition entitled Raw Data opening in October 2010 in MCAD Gallery 215

(hallway gallery outside Emeritus conference room). This exhibition will be in conjunction with the Mid-

America Printmaking Conference, New World/ Old World.

Description of exhibition theme:

Raw Data refers to compiled information that has yet to be processed or analyzed. Using this idea as a

starting point, we encourage artwork that takes an inventive approach to the materials, metaphors and/or

processes of printmaking. In keeping with the overall conference theme, New World/Old World, we are

interested in how older techniques and concepts related to printmaking are reinvented and redefined today.

We are also interested in how new technologies influence the practice and reception of print.

Criteria for selection:

1. Prints made by conventional or digital processes are eligible; 3-D works, installation, performance

or video is acceptable providing it relates to printmaking.

2. Submissions must fit the theme Raw Data.

3. Finished work OR proposals are welcome. Proposals must include 3 examples of past work, a

clear plan with dimensions of proposed work, sketches that address where the work will be in the

gallery.

4. Must be currently enrolled at MCAD this semester, students graduating this May are eligible.

Submission Guidelines:

• Materials must be received by Monday, May 3, 5:00 p.m.

• Provide images of finished work (with accompanying checklist with title, date, medium, and

dimensions) and/or proposals in digital format on a CD (or DVDs) labeled with the submitter's

name, email, and phone number. Discs can be left in MCAD Gallery mailbox (Director Kerry

Morgan’s mailbox).

• Image Requirements: jpg images, sample video must be less than 2 min. and 20 MB. You may

submit 3 works in total (each work can have up to 2 detail shots if necessary)

Selection Process:

Selections will be announced by the end of the day on Friday, May 7 via email. Artists selected will be

responsible for the presentation and delivery of their work. Where and when to drop off work in fall of

Mid-Program Presentation

Your presentation at the beginning of your review should be planned out ahead of time. You want to be able to speak clearly, focused, and set yourself up for a good review. A good way to start is to give a little background on yourself: where you are from, went to undergrad, anything else interesting or relevant. Then go into the work and your ideas. Keep it short, especially if you are at a later time slot...they don't want to listen to you ramble on.

If you have problems talking about your work you can bring note cards or even read (not recommended but it's better than getting up there and saying nothing).

Don't worry if you forget things or give a really short presentation, anything you missed will probably get addressed later.

Another tip, try to have your committee seated so they are only looking at your work if that's possible.

I don't know that I need to put any more advice on here, it sounds like you guys are getting a lot of preparation in your crit class. Good luck!

Van Derlip Award 2010

This year one Van Derlip Award, in the amount of $2,500, will be given to a MFA graduate. The recipient will have exhibited outstanding creative ability. Among the criteria considered will be: originality of ideas, imaginative problem-solving and skillful execution. Juries will be made up of
experts in their respective fields who will evaluate all applications to determine the winners. It is our
hope that the recipient of this award will use the scholarship for travel and study that will benefit her or his career as a professional artists or designer.

December 2009 and May 2010 graduates are invited to apply for the Van Derlip Award. Hand in your application by 12:00 noon on Monday, May 3^rd to: Kristin Anhorn

Hanging Work

Gallery height: the center of your image/piece should be 57" from the floor

Labels: the top of the label should be 52" from the floor, and 6-8" from the right side of your work. Labels should all be the same length. It looks nicer and is easier to stick on the backboard if you print your labels on thicker paper or even card-stock.

If you have never made labels like this before give yourself some extra time for mistakes, it's the little things that can eat up time.

Some say there is a glut of artists with MFA degrees in the world - that they are a dime a dozen. Unless academia is conferring this terminal fine art degree on anyone willing to pay the often staggering price for it, this devaluation of the degreed Master is indicative, we feel, of a systemic problem in society. The role of the master artist as cultural observer, intellectual mystic, and social healer is trivialized and misunderstood. Some suggest that an academic degree has no power to establish one's mastery of an art form - that only hard work and trial by fire in the 'real world' can do that. But these critics are, one might guess, those who either did not try, or could not survive the grueling critiques and endless all-nighters in the framework of the academic graduate process. Certainly, to say one is a Master is not to devalue other means of attaining excellence or status. But to have studied in the context of a university or college program, with rigorous requirements, and gained the terminal degree of Master surely warrants some merit. With this in mind this 4th Annual Master Pieces will seek to present the best works by the best new Masters in 2010.

Eligibility: Master Pieces is open to current MFA/MA students or MFA/MA graduates since July 2009. If in doubt of eligibility contact Manifest to inquire. All entries must represent original works of art or design.
Media: Open to all traditional and non-traditional genre and media, including but not limited to: drawing, painting, sculpture, photography, printmaking, installation, video, etc.

Mural Project

Folwell Middle School3611 20th Avenue South, Mpls.

Is hosting its last diversity fair on Thursday, March 25th from 5:00 - 8:00 PM.
Folwell will be closing after this year due to budget cuts and re-districting in the Minneapolis Public School District.
They are hoping this event will commemorate the community that will be dispersed come summer.
A parent donated a large canvas and students decided what they want to go on it but they need someone with some experience or knowledge to help make it happen. The banner is about diversity and community with students doing hand prints on some of it.

This is a volunteer position, but you would have a lot of really grateful people.

Some Mid-Program Tips

I asked the second years to send me one tip to help you guys out...the response was not great but here are some:

Arrange a practice beforehand

Be honest. If you haven't thought about a question they asked say something like "I haven't thought about that, but I will certainly consider it" and then steer the conversation to something you can talk about.

If your mentor can't make it see if you can get someone else to fill in, someone that knows your work and can stand up for you if necessary.

Commencement Meeting

When: Saturday, May 15 at 3:00
Where: The Children's Theater Main Stage at the MIA

You get 4 tickets, if you want more you can request them but are not guaranteed to get as many as you want.

There is a mandatory rehearsal Friday the 14th at 3:00
We will need to be there the day of commencement a little before 2
There will be time beforehand to practice with your mentor putting on the hood (we wear gowns which have already been ordered, undergrads don't have to)

There is a reception after.
E-mails with all important info will be sent so pay attention to them.

MCBA- 3D Print Show

Minnesota Center for Book Arts (MCBA) seeks art to be included in an
exhibition of three-dimensional print work titled Prints: Now In 3D!
The exhibition will be presented in MCBA's main gallery and will be an
official exhibition held in conjunction with the Mid-American Print
Council's Fall 2010 conference in Minneapolis. The exhibition will
open July 9 and closes October 31, 2010.

Featured work may include (but is not limited to): sculptures,
artists' books, suspended work, dimensional wall pieces, clothing,
games, boxed multiples, installations, interactive work, and other
formats that incorporate any manner of print making. There is no entry
or participation fee. Selected artists will be responsible for all
shipping costs. While on view, all work will be fully insured and
presented in MCBA's secure gallery. The exhibition will be curated by
Jeff Rathermel, MCBA Artistic Director, with the assistance of Sara
Parr, Artistic Programs Support Coordinator.

To be considered, email the following to jrathermel@mnbookarts.org:

1. A one-page Word or PDF document containing name of artist(s),
mailing address, email address, telephone number, title of work,
materials used, measurements of the work, any special installation
instructions and any other descriptive information you feel necessary
to fully appreciate the work.

2. Up to three digital images (72 dpi) per work. Multiple entries are
allowed but must be sent as separate emails.

3. Place "3D" in the subject line of your email.

Thesis Dates to Remember

Install begins April 24 and ends the 29th, reviews start the 30th!

Final thesis and documentation is due May 10 to Carole. From the handbook:

3 CD or DVD copies w/20 images of the exhibition and important work created during the course of study (one set for the Grad Director, the other two are given to the library to be bound with your thesis paper) also include a list identifying each image (title, medium, date, dimensions)
3 copies of film, video or computer exhibitions on DVD in sleeves for binding
2 copies of the thesis paper, one for the library to be bound and one for the Grad Director. Papers must be printed on archival quality paper (acid free, 100% cotton fiber)
Papers must include title page (title of paper, "in support of MFA Thesis Exhibition," date, your name, your committee names)
Must be 8.5x11"

Plymouth Library Public Art

This is a two-phase process, beginning with the submission of
qualifications. A group of finalists will be selected and invited to submit
preliminary concepts. All finalists will be interviewed and a selection will be
made for the final commissions. Artists or teams may apply for one or both
opportunities. Artists are sought to respond to the following opportunities:

CATEGORY 1. Glass Art – $60,000

The new Plymouth Library boasts many glass windows and an abundance of natural light. A focal area of three windows greets visitors upon entering the library and highlights a central corridor in the building. An artist will be commissioned to design glass art for these windows that honors the natural exterior setting and complements the architecture and light of the library. Artist may consider a variety of glass art methods including treatment to the existing
windows, framed glass art mounted within the window frames, or other permanent applications. The height of the windows is approximately nine feet and the width of the three windows is approximately 14 feet.

CATEGORY 2. Wall Art – $20,000

This project will be situated on the overhead wall opposite the glass art window area, marking the exit hallway. The library will commission an artist or team to create a dynamic mural or lightweight wall relief to enliven the space and provide a focal point for visitors. All mediums will be considered, although the final project will need to take into account the minimal structural integrity of the wall and the existing lighting. The dimensions of the art space on the wall are approximately 10 feet high by 30 feet long. The triangular area extending above the hanging light fixture is optional for any art concepts.

Per the grad handbook: the statement addresses intent, influences, context within the field, and visual and technical explorations. This statement is the first thing your review committee looks at. While they may not really look at your process book, your committee will read this statement and may come with questions based on it. On of my committee members had my statement sitting in front of him the whole time and referred back to it throughout.

So, take time to make this statement true to your work, easily understood, and have it edited! A sure way to make your review go badly is by making this statement sound smart (bigger words are not necessarily better!) and talk about things that are not in your work or that you don't fully understand...they will call you out on it.

Throughout this whole process as long as you stay true to what you believe, are thinking about, are looking at, etc. you will be fine.

In addition to the green trash cans for collecting water there is now plastic and tape in case you want to cover anything from the water. If you have anything laying out that is important I would recommend keeping it covered when you are not here, you never know when or where a leak will spring.

Invented in 1798 by German actor and writer Aloys Senefelder, lithography has become one of the foremost printing practices with its ability to produce a wide but subtle range of marks, values and colors. The list of artists engaged in making lithographs is encyclopedic and contains many important works of the last two centuries.

Highpoint’s lecture and demonstration will provide an overview of the history of lithography and an opportunity to observe Master Printer Cole Rogers process and print from a lithography stone. Lithography is all too often considered complex and mysterious, and this event will work to dispel that notion.

There aren't really any guidelines for how to make your process book and what to include. The advice that I heard when I was preparing was: make the book something that you would want to keep.

The obvious is to have images of your work. This is a chance to show how much you have done here and how it has led to what is on display.

Other things you could include:
- the Mid-Program statement
- artist statements
- essays you wrote here
- poetry or journal writings
- influences, other artists
- critique comments
- work from before you came here that influenced what you are doing now (just make it clear that it was prior to starting here)

How you put everything together is up to you. Last year there were binders, bound books from a printer, handmade books, and one was a notebook that was handwritten with images that folded out of it. If you want to see examples just ask, some of the 2nd years may have them in their studios.

Open Enrollment, the newest weekly column on the Art21 Blog, chronicles the experience of graduate school via the perspective of current students. As MA and MFA degrees become ever more the norm for the professional training of artists, educators, and administrators alike,Open Enrollment functions as a time-sensitive journal, offering readers a birds-eye-view of the challenges, rewards, puzzles, and ontological questioning that a graduate education engenders.

Each semester, a selective and diverse group of students (6 max) from accredited graduate programs, as well as students studying at non-traditional institutions (temporary schools, artist’s educational projects, intensive residency programs, etc.), will take up residence on the Art21 Blog. The roster of contributors will grow over time, providing a cross-section of international venues and pedagogical approaches. While chronicling one’s own practice is encouraged in the context of larger concerns, this column is not a forum or vehicle for narrowly promoting one’s own work. It is intended to portray, through both personal examples and larger inquiries about the pursuit of higher education, the diversity of studio and critical academic experiences in art school today.

Alice in Wonderland Fashion Competition

I am putting together an Alice in Wonderland Inspired Fashion Show Competition. The Fashion show will take place at Mall of America on February 27th. The exact time has not been finalized yet, but I will let everyone know as soon as possible.

The Alice in Wonderland Fashion Competition is just a fun event we are organizing to celebrate the release of the new Alice in Wonderland. If any student is interested and knows of a non student that would like to compete that is fine also. Everyone is invited, teachers and faculty can participate if they'd like to!

As for rules of the competition, each person is only allowed to submit one Alice in Wonderland inspired look. There are no design boundaries, except that the contestants have to be able to explain how the look was inspired by something in Alice in Wonderland. The submitted design can be an entire ensemble for those that want to compete for the grand prize and who want to be featured on the news. For people with less time (we know how busy everyone is), they can submit something simple yet creative like a new design for the Mad Hatter hat.

To enter the competition, anyone who is interested should email me at this email address as soon as possible. This allows me to gage how many people total will come and secure more prizing for everyone. On February 25th, two days before the competition, everyone who still wants to compete has to send me a picture of their completed entry or work in progress. This is just so that I know how many contestants will definitly be at the competition. Everyone that participates will receive 4 passes for the advanced 3D IMAX screening of Alice in Wonderland!

As for additional prizes the top contestants will be featured on the news. This is extremely valuable for anyone that has their own line and wants to get their name out to the public. We are also working with Spalon Montage and they will be donating prizes, Visa has donated an $100 Visa gift card for the Grand Prize winner, OPI has Alice in Wonderland polish packs to give out (we have lots of Alice in Wonderland merchandise to give out). Finally, this has not gone through the final stages of approval through Disney, but we are working on getting 2 free flights to anywhere in the USA through our studio. With Disney, these free trips always go through as long as they see that there are a lot of contestants. Obviously, they do not want to give out two free trips if there are only 5 contestants. I just have to send them the RSVP list a week before the show and then they'll tell me that it has gone through.

Gallery 122 at Hang It presents a group exhibition of the class of 2011 graduate students from MCAD. "Master Blaster" will run from March 19th through May 7th, with an artist reception held on March 19th, from 7-10 pm. The exhibition and opening reception are free and open to the public. Music provided by Unicorn Dream Attack. "Master Blaster" is sponsored by MCAD.

This unique group show features students from across the country, many who have not exposed their work to the Twin Cities. "Master Blaster" will showcase a variety of visual disciplines ranging from printmaking, photography, painting, furniture, illustration, and sculpture. These students are in the beginning process of obtaining their Master's Degree from MCAD and will exhibit their work as they continue to refine their vision as professional artists, about to emerge in the community.

Gallery 122 at Hang It is an art gallery that features different local artists throughout the year and specializes in custom picture framing and art. Gallery 122 at Hang It is located in NE Minneapolis in between Central and E. Hennepin at 122 8th St SE. The gallery hours are M&F 9-5, T&TR 9-7, Sat 10-4, closed Sundays.

Mid-Program Time Management

The grad meeting yesterday made the Mid-Program Review sound much scarier than it is. Yes, it is something to take seriously and plan for, but you are not walking into a room with a committee of people that want to attack you. For many it is a really good critique and nice discussion of your work.

Things get stressful around here the week before the reviews start. Make things easier on yourself by planning ahead. Getting the process book done ahead of time (I did mine over spring break) so the week before reviews you are focused on finishing any artwork or framing. Or get all the work done so the final week is devoted to the process book, whatever will make you less stressed.

Mid-Program Tips

I will start posting tips for the Mid-Program Review, and if you have any questions feel free to e-mail me and I will get advice from the 2nd years (so it is not just me here).

When you have your meeting to pick spots in the gallery you may not end up with the space that (to you) would be ideal, either lighting wise or size wise. Last year we had some pretty tiny areas so a lot of editing and planning was necessary. Choosing what to display is something to discuss with your mentor, but use your critiques for practice.

If you have been putting up everything you have made between crits (which I hope is not the case unless it was really time consuming) then be more selective. Only put up what you really want feedback on or what you think is the strongest. This will aid in seeing how you can control a discussion about your work.

This is just to get you thinking, I will get into more details later...

Megan Vossler: Sound Signals

Megan Vossler will present a suite of drawings in the Main Gallery, depicting a continuous landscape and narrative carried over multiple sheets of paper.

Vossler’s installation presents an epically scaled northern landscape dotted with human figures, caribou, trees and the shadow of a hovering helicopter – all reassessing their positions within an environment that has been indelibly changed. The landscape through which these figures move is marked by signs of ruin, including collapsed buildings, piles of rubble, scorched trees, and a flooded canyon. The exhibition’s title, Sound Signals, is a phrase from nautical navigation, in which sound indicates to sailors the position and proximity of ships in the distance.

In “Scrap,” Michael Kareken’s oil paintings memorialize democratic piles of recyclable glass and metal, each performing as both a portrait and a landscape. Originally intrigued by the Rock-Tenn recycling plant seen from his studio window, Kareken began painting landscapes of piles of paper, glass, and steel, documenting their endless shifts as they mysteriously work their way in and out the facility. Kareken’s painterly brushstrokes can evoke the Excavation paintings George Bellows made while New York’s Penn Station was being built. These captured the landscape and spirit of the Industrial Revolution. Kareken, like Bellows, portrays the drama and stark beauty of a new American scene. His refuse heaps are lovingly rendered, monochromatic studies of twisted metal, as in Scrap Engines (2009), or large, scrap-carrying magnets whose painted heft dissolves in a mass of swinging energy at the canvas edges. Scrap Bottles, a 9 x 14-foot canvas, is an up-close view of a mountain of glass—green, clear, and brown, broken and whole. Kareken has worked the paint into a composition that hovers between figurative and abstract.

We have been getting a lot of e-mail about stress relief aimed toward the undergrads with their finals coming up. As you know stress in grad school is not always at the end of the semester, it fluctuates throughout (lucky us). Some things to keep in mind when things get rough:

SLEEP! This is the first thing people skimp on to get work done, but in order to function at your best you should be getting 7-8 hours a night. Sleep will also help you stay healthy and keeps you metabolism going.

EAT! Along with sleeping, keep up with healthy meals to power you through the long hours. Remember, breakfast is the most important meal of the day, try to get some protein in there for a jump start.

EXERCISE! If you can find the time to get a walk/run/bike ride in during the day it will release endorphins which will help with stress relief. This is probably the hardest to find time to do, but try. (I am a total hypocrite writing this one)

Meditate? I have found this as a suggestion, but just take some time for yourself. If you are stressing about something and working on it all day, take a little time to do something you enjoy, even if it is just watching a quick TV show.

And now I am done sounding like an RA bulletin board posting.

Visual Studies Reader

The first fully collaborative, student-run publication on visual studies. The visual world is changing so fast that no conventional anthology can capture it. This idea is to record the current shape of visual studies, across disciplines, as it is experienced by the upcoming generation of scholars and artists.

Harvests of New Millennium

The mission of Cyberwit is to encourage and promote the visual arts and poetry. Cyberwit's Harvests of New Millennium will be divided into three sections: (1) Photos, Paintings and Drawings, (2) Poetry and (3) Biography of Contributing Artists. The Journal will feature poems and artworks by the artists from all over the world. The poems and artwork selected for Harvests of New Millennium will surely compel our admiration.

Guidelines for Artworks Submission:

Gallery 148 offers a professional experience for MCAD students to exhibit work and build their resumes, curate shows, collaborate with other artists, or anything else that is successfully presented to the jury. Four 2-week shows in the spring semester are up grabs, all you need to do is submit a gallery proposal, which will be reviewed by a jury of your peers (students representing each department, a SAC liaison, and a staff facilitator).

Forecast Public Art Grant

Forecast Public Art's annual grant program, established in 1989, supports emerging, visual artists residing in the state of Minnesota.

These grants provide artists the chance to develop and create projects for a public audience anywhere in the state, receive increased recognition, and advance their artistic careers.

2010 Application Deadline: February 6, 2010.

Application forms will be posted at their website on December 1, 2009. Selected grants will be announced in March 2010.

There are also three workshops scheduled to take place in the Twin Cities. Consider attending one of these workshops if you intend on applying. Just a reminder that you can get reimbursed for the costs of entering shows.

After you have entered the show get some sort of receipt (they usually send a confirmation e-mail). What you need to get reimbursed:

Your name
What you entered (name of the show or gallery)
How much it cost

Take this sheet to Kristin Anhorn. If you don't go to the main campus that often I can give it to her as well.

Also... after you have been accepted in a show, if you need to ship your work you can get reimbursed for that too (or at least for part of it depending on how expensive it was). Again, they just need a receipt showing what it was for (in this case shipping for an event) and how much it cost.

It takes a few weeks to get the refund, but that's much better than having to pay for it all yourself!

I'm sure you've heard about him, but if not... Autistic artist Stephen Wiltshire took a twenty-minute helicopter ride over Manhattan and then sketched the entire skyline from memory. This call for proposals is for graduate students from The Minneapolis College of Art and Design and The University of Minnesota, Twin Cities. Students working in all artistic media, art education, art history, architecture, philosophy and mathematics are encouraged to apply. You may apply as an individual or as a collaborative team. Special consideration will be given to collaborative teams that incorporate two or more of the above-mentioned disciplines.

Theme: How does your art form the current that carries your life? If you think of life as a river where has that river taken you? Is the water fast, slow, shallow or deep? Is the current treacherous or is it calm and quiet? What is water's place in your life?

Entry Deadline:
November 20, 2009

Juror: Beate C. Minkovski, co-founder and Executive Director of Woman Made Gallery in Chicago.

Eligibility: Must be a WARM member (you can become one to enter this show for $30 student rate) plus a program fee of $20. You may submit up to three entries.

Entries must be received at WARM, 550 Rice Street, St. Paul, MN by 8:00pm on November 20th. This is not a postmark deadline. The WARM office will be open Nov 20th from 3-8pm for hand-delivered entries.

Entries must include:
Documentation of work (up to 3 entries) on slides or CD, or up to a 10-minute video
Typed artist statement not to exceed 200 words, addressing the theme
$20 program fee and WARM membership fee
Entry form or photocopy of entry form (I can get you a photocopy, just let me know and I can put it in your studio)

Submission:
CD's MUST be Mac compatible
All submissions must be labeled with your name, title, date, medium, and dimensions of artwork. For digital submissions include a separate file on the CD with this info. Indicate if there are special installation needs and/or excessive weight.

Digital submissions should be 96 dpi, and 800 pixels on the longest side.

Video, performance
Submit video tape with cue instructions for viewing no more than a total of 10 minutes. Label cassette and case with your name, title, date, and total playing time. For performance also include overall dimension of work/site. Do not send original videos!

Each person whose work is accepted must volunteer for one gallery shift during the show.

True to their word in the first grad meeting, Whittier now has 'sanitation stations' in the classroom area and studio area. There are also disinfecting wipes at each computer area. So, even if little else is clean around here, your hands and computer can be germ free.

Visitors will create their very own colorful relief block prints. Using either pre-cut woodblocks or by carving your own design you will be sure to roll and print your way to an inky good time! Free Ink Days are always free and open to the public.
